When the news came out that the FA was charging Queens Park Rangers with 7 charges of misconduct in relation to the signing of Alejandro Faurlin in the summer of 2009, the certainty of the clubs promotion was cast into doubt. However, it has now emerged that the club will be facing no points deduction and instead will receive a fine for the use of an unregistered agent.
It is understood that the fine will be between £50,000 and £100,000, as the agent was already registered by FIFA but his FA registration had not been completed. Since the 7 charges were made last month many QPR fans had been fretting about a points deduction and some had even called for the sacking of QPR FC Chairman Gianni Paladini, but the announcement of a mere fine at the end of the season will be enough to save his job.
